Blog award From Dinki Dots

I am thrilled to have been award this blog award from Dinki Dots!

I have been searching through my favourites to decide who to pass it on to.
I understand I should pass it on to 5 others, but many had already been awarded or had too many followers to receive it, so I have choosen two (and will pass on to others as I discover them!)

I would like to award:

Oh Sew Beautiful and The Krafty Cupcake with this award and hope they love receiving it as much as me

2.2.12

I have just discovered a new blog and I would like to pass this award on to Nicki at Homebird, her blog is lovely and her baking is beautiful!

This also goes to Lucy at Tete en l'air, I've stumbled across her today and enjoys reading her blog.

Love Katie xx

Sorry it's been a while ...

It was early December when I last posted! It's been so hectic here, there just has not been the time.
Now Christmas is over (sob sob) and the New year is approaching, things are quieting down and there's lots to fill you in on.

There has been lots of Christmas baking ...

 Trips to see Father Christmas....

We had Charlie's 2nd Birthday on Christmas Eve ... I made these cushions as part of his present for the chair in his room ...

We also had our first Christmas at home, Joe cooked a lovely Christmas dinner and we all had lovely presents, I was luckily enough to receive lots of lovely craft books and plenty of bakeware to keep me in the kitchen!
I made this decoration for Joe and part of his present, along with a chocolate wreath (that I took a bite out of this morning!) ...

My Nanny, those in her eighties, made this lovely tree decoration for us last year. I love it so so much. It's made from recycled milk bottle tops, stuffed with wadding and covered in festive fabrics. She had more requests this year, from friends and family dying to own one! Well done Nanny xxx ...

As I write this I've got my scissors in one had happily snipping away ... I've made it my New Years resolution to condense down the contents of my craft room, there are so many things in there I don't use (because they are to pretty! and I just like to look at them!)
So they are all getting used up (so I have space for more) ... I'm going to be doing lots of card making for the year ahead and enjoy using all these pretty things, so I finally have space to move in there!

Will post next time with some card creations, till then ... Happy New Year!!!

Bargains and Buttons!

Aswell as my addiction to crafts, I have an unhealthy obsession with bargains! I am at my happiest rummaging in the charity and second hand shops.
Yesterday I fed my bargain hunger and picked up some fabulous things. It baffles me that people give this stuff away!
I now have two beautiful beaded bags, a glorious spotty cardigan, 4 pretty floral plates, a floral scarf, a huge piece of polka dot fabric and a fabric pencil to add to my hoard... all for a snip at £18.50
What better way to spend a lovely Sunday morning then with your pinny tied, doing some baking?
I filled the house with the glorious smell of ginger and spice, baking these sweet Gingerbread Buttons.
The little mousey pin cushion is for a dear friend for Christmas (you know who you are and must look suprised when you open it!!)
Last but not least for today, I have a photo of the wooden Goblet my father made as a wedding present. The Goblet and two rings around its stem were carved from a single piece of wood. A little scroll was included explaining that toasting each other from the Goblet on your wedding day will bring good luck. Thanks Dad, we love it xxx

More "Wedding wears"

A few more items I made for the wedding. Above is the guest book ...
Ring pillow, cross stitched with our initials, the date and even little Windmills too!
The invitations, I kept one as a keepsake
... and finally the sampler I stitched to display at the wedding reception. Done using cross stitch, blackwork and lots of little sparkly beads! Im an awful photographer so you can't seem to see the beads much, but I promise they are there! Katie xx

Wonderful Windmill Cake Topper

I can't take the credit for this one. This was made by my bridesmaid and best friend, Amanda. She made the cake at our wedding, the design was a total suprise. The cake was huge, beautiful and very tasty! We got married in a Windmill and this cake topper is the spitting image! She even constructed the sail so it would spin and placed our names, the date and the name "Cley Windmill" where we were married around the base. Made out of Fimo polymer clay, it will last forever and is a great keepsake. Thanks amanda!

Mend It!

I've just finished this little handbag sewing kit. I adapted the design from a chart I found in a old magazine. It's nice to stitch something quick and easy after alot of long projects. It just needs to be filled with spare needles and thread, then I think it would make a lovely little gift.

Im happy to share patterns if anyone is interested, just ask.

Wedding wears

My husband and I got married last month. I had spent months making bits and pieces for the wedding. Above is one of the two bouquets, fabulous foam roses with pretty pearls and diamantes. This was the first time I came across foam roses... very impressed. As well as the bouquets I made buttons holes for the chaps and corsages for the mummies!
These favours were crossed stitched front and back. the fronts contained the initials of the receiver and the back  was stitched with our names and the date of the wedding. They toke along time.. but I'm really pleased with how they turned out.
My dad is amazingly talented, he loves "playing" with wood in his garage and he made these little dishes for us and favours for the male guests at the wedding. He burned in the names and date to make them lovely keep-sakes.
I ran out of time to stitch more hearts for the children so came up with this idea of little boxes. Each box was stitched with the child's initials ans filled with yummy sweets. They had great fun filling their boxes with confetti and table sprinkles after the reception!
Joe and I spent a couple of evening making the confetti! We punched little shapes out of pretty papers. Alot of effort, but it did look lovely sprinkled over the ground!
